Emberfall Chronicle

★★★★★ 4.7 Editor rating

Emberfall Chronicle is the kind of RPG that surprised us by having a story worth reading. You lead a small band of exiles across a crumbling kingdom, and the writing actually lands, with quiet character moments between the big fights. It's not Shakespeare, but it respects you enough to keep dialogue snappy.

Combat is turn-based and grid-light, so it works on a phone without cramping your thumbs. Each party member has a clear role, and the joy comes from stacking buffs and timing a big combo just right. Progression is generous without being mindless; you feel your team getting stronger every couple of chapters.

There's an energy system, but it's forgiving, and you can finish the main story without hitting a wall. We put around fifteen hours in and never felt pushed to grind.
